We lay new tarmac driveways in Maidenhead, resurface tired drives and carry out tarmac driveway repair work, with the sub-base, falls and edging done properly so the surface lasts.
Maidenhead stretches from the Thames at Boulters Lock up through Boyne Hill, Furze Platt and Pinkneys Green, and every part brings different driveway needs. We lay tarmac driveways in Maidenhead across SL6, from Victorian villas near the river to family homes in Cox Green and Woodlands Park. Our team handles new asphalt drives, resurfacing over sound bases and tarmac driveway repair, with block-paved borders and drainage designed around each property and the way you use it.
Ground in Maidenhead ranges from river gravels near the Thames to clay and chalk on higher ground towards Maidenhead Thicket, so we tailor excavation and sub-base depth to the site. We lay hot asphalt in two courses with granite or block edging, and can use porous asphalt where drainage matters. Our team is FMB and TrustMark accredited, fully insured, and every job is guaranteed.
Most of our driveway work comes from recommendations. Here is what customers say about us.

Small defects in tarmac grow quickly once water gets in. These are the signs it is time to call us.
Hairline cracks let water into the base, where frost widens them every winter.
Loose, missing patches that will keep growing and can damage tyres and trip visitors.
Low areas and ruts point to a weak or washed-out sub-base under the surface.
Puddles that sit for hours mean the falls or drainage need correcting.
Growth along edges and cracks shows the surface is opening up and losing its seal.
Oxidised, crumbly tarmac that sheds grit is near the end of its life and may need resurfacing.

Book a free surveyHomes along Ray Mead Road, the riverside and the streets near the York Stream sit in the Thames floodplain, and parts of the town flooded in 2014, so drainage and levels need careful planning. We set falls away from thresholds and favour porous asphalt or soakaways where ground conditions allow. Maidenhead Riverside and Boyne Hill are conservation areas, where frontage walls and materials matter to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. The council is also the highway authority, so dropped kerb applications go to the Royal Borough. Front gardens over 5 m² need a permeable surface or drainage to a soft area to stay within permitted development.
We also cover these nearby areas with the same team and the same guarantees.

We check the existing surface, levels, drainage and access, and talk through borders and layout.

Straight answers to the questions Maidenhead customers ask us most. If yours is not here, call us.
Standard tarmac is impermeable, so a new front driveway over 5 square metres needs planning permission unless rainwater drains to a lawn, border or soakaway on your property, or you use porous asphalt. We design drainage to keep you within the rules.
On low-lying riverside plots we usually recommend porous asphalt over an open-graded sub-base, or traditional tarmac with falls to a channel drain and soakaway. Either approach keeps rainwater away from the house and meets the permeable surface rule for front gardens. Where groundwater rises during a Thames flood, nothing drains perfectly, so we also keep driveway levels below air bricks and damp proof courses.
If the existing surface is sound and well supported, an overlay is a cost-effective option. If it is sinking, cracked through or badly drained, we recommend a full dig-out and a new sub-base.
A well-built tarmac drive on a proper sub-base should last many years. Keeping edges sealed and repairing cracks early makes a big difference.
You can usually walk on it the same day and drive on it after a day or so. Avoid sharp turns on the spot and parking in the same position for the first few weeks.
Tarmac is usually quicker to lay and better value per square metre, with a smooth, seamless finish. Block paving costs more but offers more patterns and colours. Many customers combine the two with a tarmac drive and block-paved borders.
Yes. We cut out failed areas, prepare the base and reinstate with fresh tarmac, sealing the joints so water cannot get back in.
