We lay new tarmac driveways in Pinner, resurface tired drives and carry out tarmac driveway repair work, with the sub-base, falls and edging done properly so the surface lasts.
Pinner manages to feel like a village, with its timber-framed High Street rising to St John's Church, yet most homes here are Metroland semis and detached houses spread across Pinner Hill, Pinner Green and the roads towards Hatch End. We lay tarmac driveways in Pinner throughout HA5, balancing practical parking with frontages that suit the area. Our team handles new asphalt drives, resurfacing and tarmac driveway repair for drives worn by tree roots and age.
Pinner sits on London clay, so we excavate to a firm base, lay a deep compacted sub-base and finish with hot-rolled asphalt. Red or buff coloured tarmac with brick or block-paved borders works well alongside mock Tudor fronts, and porous asphalt or channel drains handle surface water. We are FMB, TrustMark and Guild of Master Craftsmen members, fully insured, and every job is guaranteed.
Most of our driveway work comes from recommendations. Here is what customers say about us.

A sound but tired drive can be cleaned, regulated and overlaid with fresh tarmac at a lower cost than a rebuild.
Potholes, cracks, sunken areas and failed edges cut out and reinstated so the repair is sealed and level.
Contrasting block or kerb borders that hold the edges and give a tarmac drive a smart, finished look.
Red or green tarmac for drives, paths and private roads where you want something different from black.
Channel drains, soakaways and porous asphalt to keep water off the road and within the planning rules.
Is your drive worth resurfacing or rebuilding?
Get an honest answerTarmac is only as good as the base underneath it and the way it is laid. This is what you get with our team.

Fresh hot-mix asphalt from local plants, laid at the right temperature and to the right thickness.

Conservation-friendly details such as coloured tarmac, brick borders and retained walls add work, as do porous construction and channel drains. Access near the busy High Street can affect timing. Small defects in tarmac grow quickly once water gets in. These are the signs it is time to call us.
Hairline cracks let water into the base, where frost widens them every winter.
Loose, missing patches that will keep growing and can damage tyres and trip visitors.
Low areas and ruts point to a weak or washed-out sub-base under the surface.
Puddles that sit for hours mean the falls or drainage need correcting.
Growth along edges and cracks shows the surface is opening up and losing its seal.
Oxidised, crumbly tarmac that sheds grit is near the end of its life and may need resurfacing.

Book a free surveyPinner has several conservation areas, including Pinner High Street, Waxwell Lane, Pinnerwood Park and East End Farm, and some have Article 4 directions limiting changes to front gardens and boundary walls. Harrow Council expects designs that keep low walls, hedges and planting wherever possible. Beyond these areas, Metroland streets often have mature trees close to the pavement, which affects crossover approvals and the edges of the drive. London clay drains poorly, so front gardens over 5 m² need permeable asphalt or drainage to a soft area. Harrow Council handles dropped kerb applications and checks visibility, street trees and parking bays on each road before giving approval.
We also cover these nearby areas with the same team and the same guarantees.
From survey to the final roll, this is how we build a tarmac drive that lasts.
We check the existing surface, levels, drainage and access, and talk through borders and layout.
An itemised quote with dig-out, sub-base, tarmac courses, edging and a start date.
The old surface comes out, and kerbs or block borders are set to the finished levels.
Crushed stone sub-base is laid and compacted, with channel drains or soakaways where needed.
Hot tarmac is laid in two courses and rolled while hot for a dense, smooth finish.
Edges are sealed, the site is cleared, and we tell you when you can drive on it.

Straight answers to the questions Pinner customers ask us most. If yours is not here, call us.
Standard tarmac is impermeable, so a new front driveway over 5 square metres needs planning permission unless rainwater drains to a lawn, border or soakaway on your property, or you use porous asphalt. We design drainage to keep you within the rules.
It depends on the street. In Pinner conservation areas with Article 4 directions, such as Pinnerwood Park, hard surfacing a front garden or removing a boundary wall can need planning permission from Harrow Council. Elsewhere, a permeable tarmac drive or one draining to a soft area is normally permitted development. We check your road's status during the survey and design a frontage that keeps walls and planting where possible.
If the existing surface is sound and well supported, an overlay is a cost-effective option. If it is sinking, cracked through or badly drained, we recommend a full dig-out and a new sub-base.
A well-built tarmac drive on a proper sub-base should last many years. Keeping edges sealed and repairing cracks early makes a big difference.
You can usually walk on it the same day and drive on it after a day or so. Avoid sharp turns on the spot and parking in the same position for the first few weeks.
Tarmac is usually quicker to lay and better value per square metre, with a smooth, seamless finish. Block paving costs more but offers more patterns and colours. Many customers combine the two with a tarmac drive and block-paved borders.
Yes. We cut out failed areas, prepare the base and reinstate with fresh tarmac, sealing the joints so water cannot get back in.
