We lay new tarmac driveways in Walton-On-Thames, resurface tired drives and carry out tarmac driveway repair work, with the sub-base, falls and edging done properly so the surface lasts.
Walton-on-Thames is a town of contrasts, from the private roads of Burwood Park and Ashley Park to Edwardian terraces near the station and riverside homes close to Walton Bridge. As tarmac driveway installers working across KT12, we design each Walton-on-Thames tarmac driveway around the property and plot. Our team handles new asphalt drives, resurfacing and tarmac driveway repair, adding block-paved borders, coloured finishes and drainage that copes with the river setting and the local ground.
Ground in Walton is mainly Thames gravel, which drains well when the water table is low, so porous asphalt is often practical. We build every drive on a compacted Type 1 sub-base, lay hot asphalt in two courses and finish with granite, brick or block-paved borders. We are FMB, TrustMark and Guild of Master Craftsmen members, fully insured, and every job is guaranteed.
Most of our driveway work comes from recommendations. Here is what customers say about us.

Call 01932 798275Walton-on-Thames driveway costs depend on the size of the drive, which can be large on private estates, the removal of old gravel or tarmac and the drainage approach near the river. Porous asphalt, channel drains, granite or block-paved borders and coloured finishes all shape the specification. Root protection near protected trees and estate access rules can also affect the work. Every quote is fixed and written after a free survey. Call us on 01932 798275 to book yours.

Small defects in tarmac grow quickly once water gets in. These are the signs it is time to call us.
Hairline cracks let water into the base, where frost widens them every winter.
Loose, missing patches that will keep growing and can damage tyres and trip visitors.
Low areas and ruts point to a weak or washed-out sub-base under the surface.
Puddles that sit for hours mean the falls or drainage need correcting.
Growth along edges and cracks shows the surface is opening up and losing its seal.
Oxidised, crumbly tarmac that sheds grit is near the end of its life and may need resurfacing.

Book a free surveyHomes near the Thames at Walton Bridge and along the riverside roads sit in the floodplain, so levels and drainage need careful planning. Burwood Park and other private estates have their own rules on frontages, gates and contractor access, which we follow alongside Elmbridge Borough Council's planning requirements. Many large plots have mature trees, some protected by Tree Preservation Orders, so root protection can form part of the design. Front gardens over 5 m² need a permeable surface or drainage to a soft area. Dropped kerbs are approved by Surrey County Council as highway authority. Sandy gravel drains well, but groundwater can rise in winter close to the river.
We also cover these nearby areas with the same team and the same guarantees.
From survey to the final roll, this is how we build a tarmac drive that lasts.
We check the existing surface, levels, drainage and access, and talk through borders and layout.
An itemised quote with dig-out, sub-base, tarmac courses, edging and a start date.
The old surface comes out, and kerbs or block borders are set to the finished levels.
Crushed stone sub-base is laid and compacted, with channel drains or soakaways where needed.
Hot tarmac is laid in two courses and rolled while hot for a dense, smooth finish.
Edges are sealed, the site is cleared, and we tell you when you can drive on it.

Straight answers to the questions Walton-On-Thames customers ask us most. If yours is not here, call us.
Standard tarmac is impermeable, so a new front driveway over 5 square metres needs planning permission unless rainwater drains to a lawn, border or soakaway on your property, or you use porous asphalt. We design drainage to keep you within the rules.
Private estates such as Burwood Park usually have their own covenants and estate management rules covering frontages, gates and contractor access, so it is sensible to check with the estate management before work starts. Elmbridge Borough Council's planning rules still apply, including the permeable surface requirement for front gardens over 5 m². We are used to working within estate rules and can provide the details estate managers normally ask for.
If the existing surface is sound and well supported, an overlay is a cost-effective option. If it is sinking, cracked through or badly drained, we recommend a full dig-out and a new sub-base.
A well-built tarmac drive on a proper sub-base should last many years. Keeping edges sealed and repairing cracks early makes a big difference.
You can usually walk on it the same day and drive on it after a day or so. Avoid sharp turns on the spot and parking in the same position for the first few weeks.
Tarmac is usually quicker to lay and better value per square metre, with a smooth, seamless finish. Block paving costs more but offers more patterns and colours. Many customers combine the two with a tarmac drive and block-paved borders.
Yes. We cut out failed areas, prepare the base and reinstate with fresh tarmac, sealing the joints so water cannot get back in.
