Accredited, insured and guaranteed
We lay new tarmac driveways in Datchet, resurface tired drives and carry out tarmac driveway repair work, with the sub-base, falls and edging done properly so the surface lasts.
Datchet's village centre, with its green, Thames-side walks and Victorian cottages, sits just across the river from Windsor, and front gardens here need driveways that respect that setting. We install tarmac driveways in Datchet for cottages near The Green, family homes along Horton Road and newer houses towards Ditton Park. Our tarmac driveway installers handle resurfacing, overlays and tarmac driveway repair, and we pay particular attention to drainage given how close much of the village sits to the Thames.
We lay asphalt in two courses over a compacted sub-base, with block-paved borders or brick edging that suits Datchet's older properties. Where water is a concern, porous asphalt lets rain soak through rather than run towards the house or the road. Our team is fully insured, every job is guaranteed, and we hold FMB, Guild of Master Craftsmen, TrustMark and VUBA memberships, so you know exactly who is working on your home.
Most of our driveway work comes from recommendations. Here is what customers say about us.

Want a smooth, sealed drive?
Call 01753 331248Costs in Datchet depend mainly on the area of the drive, the depth of excavation and how drainage is handled on low-lying ground. Porous asphalt needs a deeper open-graded base, while traditional tarmac may need channel drains and a soakaway. Breaking out old concrete, building edging that suits a conservation area and working around narrow village lanes also play a part. Every quote is fixed and written after a free survey. Small defects in tarmac grow quickly once water gets in. These are the signs it is time to call us.
Hairline cracks let water into the base, where frost widens them every winter.
Loose, missing patches that will keep growing and can damage tyres and trip visitors.
Low areas and ruts point to a weak or washed-out sub-base under the surface.
Puddles that sit for hours mean the falls or drainage need correcting.
Growth along edges and cracks shows the surface is opening up and losing its seal.
Oxidised, crumbly tarmac that sheds grit is near the end of its life and may need resurfacing.

Book a free surveyMuch of Datchet lies in the Thames floodplain, and the village was badly affected by the 2014 floods, so surface water and ground levels need careful thought. We check the falls so that water drains away from thresholds and air bricks, and we favour permeable or porous asphalt where possible. The village centre around The Green is a conservation area, where frontage walls, railings and the overall look of a drive matter to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Alluvial and gravel soils can hold water after heavy rain, so sub-base design and soakaway capacity are worth checking. Narrow lanes near the level crossing also make skip placement and delivery timing important.
We also cover these nearby areas with the same team and the same guarantees.
From survey to the final roll, this is how we build a tarmac drive that lasts.
We check the existing surface, levels, drainage and access, and talk through borders and layout.
An itemised quote with dig-out, sub-base, tarmac courses, edging and a start date.
The old surface comes out, and kerbs or block borders are set to the finished levels.
Crushed stone sub-base is laid and compacted, with channel drains or soakaways where needed.
Hot tarmac is laid in two courses and rolled while hot for a dense, smooth finish.
Edges are sealed, the site is cleared, and we tell you when you can drive on it.

Standard tarmac is impermeable, so a new front driveway over 5 square metres needs planning permission unless rainwater drains to a lawn, border or soakaway on your property, or you use porous asphalt. We design drainage to keep you within the rules.
Often it is. Porous asphalt lets rainwater pass through to an open-graded sub-base instead of running off towards your house or the road, which helps on low-lying Datchet streets. It also meets the permeable surface rule for front gardens over 5 m². When groundwater is already high during a Thames flood, no surface can drain freely, so we also set sensible falls away from the property and can add channel drains as backup.
If the existing surface is sound and well supported, an overlay is a cost-effective option. If it is sinking, cracked through or badly drained, we recommend a full dig-out and a new sub-base.
A well-built tarmac drive on a proper sub-base should last many years. Keeping edges sealed and repairing cracks early makes a big difference.
You can usually walk on it the same day and drive on it after a day or so. Avoid sharp turns on the spot and parking in the same position for the first few weeks.
Tarmac is usually quicker to lay and better value per square metre, with a smooth, seamless finish. Block paving costs more but offers more patterns and colours. Many customers combine the two with a tarmac drive and block-paved borders.
Yes. We cut out failed areas, prepare the base and reinstate with fresh tarmac, sealing the joints so water cannot get back in.
