We lay new tarmac driveways in Sunningdale, resurface tired drives and carry out tarmac driveway repair work, with the sub-base, falls and edging done properly so the surface lasts.
Sunningdale is known for its golf courses, heathland and substantial homes set back behind gates and pines, especially on the private roads around Charters Road and Broomhall. We lay tarmac driveways in Sunningdale across SL5, creating long, well-drained drives with crisp edging and generous turning space. Our team also resurfaces existing asphalt and carries out tarmac driveway repair where roots, frost or construction traffic have damaged the surface, so the approach to your home looks right again.
Sunningdale's sandy Bagshot Beds drain freely, so porous asphalt is often a natural fit, though loose sand needs a deep, well-compacted sub-base. We finish drives with granite setts, block-paved or brick borders and can lay coloured tarmac or a chip-dressed surface to suit period architecture. We are FMB, TrustMark and Guild of Master Craftsmen members, fully insured, and all work is guaranteed.
Most of our driveway work comes from recommendations. Here is what customers say about us.

Want a smooth, sealed drive?
Call 01344 609856Sunningdale drives are often long, so the overall area is the biggest cost factor, followed by excavation depth on loose sand and any root protection near mature trees. Granite setts, block-paved borders, coloured or chip-dressed finishes, drainage and gate approaches all shape the specification. Private road access and long distances from the road to the house can also affect labour. Every quote is fixed and written after a free survey. Call us on 01344 609856 to arrange yours.

Small defects in tarmac grow quickly once water gets in. These are the signs it is time to call us.
Hairline cracks let water into the base, where frost widens them every winter.
Loose, missing patches that will keep growing and can damage tyres and trip visitors.
Low areas and ruts point to a weak or washed-out sub-base under the surface.
Puddles that sit for hours mean the falls or drainage need correcting.
Growth along edges and cracks shows the surface is opening up and losing its seal.
Oxidised, crumbly tarmac that sheds grit is near the end of its life and may need resurfacing.

Book a free surveyMany Sunningdale homes sit on private roads or gated estates, with long drives running through mature pines, birches and rhododendrons. Root protection is a recurring issue, and some trees are covered by Tree Preservation Orders, so excavation near them must be planned. Most of the area lies in the Metropolitan Green Belt, and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is both planning and highway authority, so dropped kerb applications go there. Sandy soils drain well but can be loose, so delivery lorries and construction traffic need a deeper base. Front gardens over 5 m² need permeable surfacing or drainage to a soft area, and gates set well back help cars pull fully off the road.
We also cover these nearby areas with the same team and the same guarantees.
From survey to the final roll, this is how we build a tarmac drive that lasts.
We check the existing surface, levels, drainage and access, and talk through borders and layout.
An itemised quote with dig-out, sub-base, tarmac courses, edging and a start date.
The old surface comes out, and kerbs or block borders are set to the finished levels.
Crushed stone sub-base is laid and compacted, with channel drains or soakaways where needed.
Hot tarmac is laid in two courses and rolled while hot for a dense, smooth finish.
Edges are sealed, the site is cleared, and we tell you when you can drive on it.

Straight answers to the questions Sunningdale customers ask us most. If yours is not here, call us.
Standard tarmac is impermeable, so a new front driveway over 5 square metres needs planning permission unless rainwater drains to a lawn, border or soakaway on your property, or you use porous asphalt. We design drainage to keep you within the rules.
Yes, with the right construction. Near mature pines and oaks we use shallow excavation and, where roots are close, a cellular confinement system under porous asphalt so the roots continue to receive air and water. We check for Tree Preservation Orders with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead before starting. This approach protects the trees and keeps the drive level for longer than a standard dig-out would.
If the existing surface is sound and well supported, an overlay is a cost-effective option. If it is sinking, cracked through or badly drained, we recommend a full dig-out and a new sub-base.
A well-built tarmac drive on a proper sub-base should last many years. Keeping edges sealed and repairing cracks early makes a big difference.
You can usually walk on it the same day and drive on it after a day or so. Avoid sharp turns on the spot and parking in the same position for the first few weeks.
Tarmac is usually quicker to lay and better value per square metre, with a smooth, seamless finish. Block paving costs more but offers more patterns and colours. Many customers combine the two with a tarmac drive and block-paved borders.
Yes. We cut out failed areas, prepare the base and reinstate with fresh tarmac, sealing the joints so water cannot get back in.
