We lay new tarmac driveways in Ruislip, resurface tired drives and carry out tarmac driveway repair work, with the sub-base, falls and edging done properly so the surface lasts.
Ruislip was shaped by Metroland, and its avenues of semis and bungalows stretch from Ruislip Manor and South Ruislip up to the edge of Ruislip Woods and the Lido. We lay tarmac driveways in Ruislip across HA4, giving families practical off-street parking that suits these interwar streets. Our team installs new asphalt drives, resurfaces worn tarmac and carries out tarmac driveway repair, using block-paved borders and proper drainage to keep each drive neat and dry.
Ruislip's London clay holds water and shifts in dry summers, so we excavate to a firm formation, compact a Type 1 sub-base and lay hot asphalt in two courses. Coloured tarmac and brick edging suit the area's mock Tudor frontages, while porous asphalt or channel drains handle run-off. We are FMB, TrustMark and Guild of Master Craftsmen members, fully insured, and every job is guaranteed.
Most of our driveway work comes from recommendations. Here is what customers say about us.

Contrasting block or kerb borders that hold the edges and give a tarmac drive a smart, finished look.
Red or green tarmac for drives, paths and private roads where you want something different from black.
Channel drains, soakaways and porous asphalt to keep water off the road and within the planning rules.
Is your drive worth resurfacing or rebuilding?

Want a smooth, sealed drive?
Call 01895 875062Ruislip driveway costs depend on the frontage size, the removal of walls, lawn or old paving, and the sub-base depth London clay needs. Drainage is a key part of the specification, using porous asphalt, a channel drain or falls to planting. Coloured tarmac, brick or block borders and work in the conservation area add detail. Small defects in tarmac grow quickly once water gets in. These are the signs it is time to call us.
Hairline cracks let water into the base, where frost widens them every winter.
Loose, missing patches that will keep growing and can damage tyres and trip visitors.
Low areas and ruts point to a weak or washed-out sub-base under the surface.
Puddles that sit for hours mean the falls or drainage need correcting.
Growth along edges and cracks shows the surface is opening up and losing its seal.
Oxidised, crumbly tarmac that sheds grit is near the end of its life and may need resurfacing.

Book a free surveyRuislip Village, around the High Street and Manor Farm, is a conservation area, and Hillingdon Council expects frontage changes there to respect its character. Across Ruislip Manor and South Ruislip, many 1930s semis and bungalows have modest frontages and mature street trees, which affect whether a crossover will be approved. Hillingdon Council handles dropped kerb applications and checks frontage depth, visibility and trees. London clay drains slowly and shrinks in dry weather, so front gardens over 5 m² need permeable asphalt or drainage to a soft area. Homes near the River Pinn and the edge of Ruislip Woods can see wetter ground, where careful drainage design matters most.
We also cover these nearby areas with the same team and the same guarantees.
From survey to the final roll, this is how we build a tarmac drive that lasts.
We check the existing surface, levels, drainage and access, and talk through borders and layout.
An itemised quote with dig-out, sub-base, tarmac courses, edging and a start date.

Crushed stone sub-base is laid and compacted, with channel drains or soakaways where needed.
Hot tarmac is laid in two courses and rolled while hot for a dense, smooth finish.
Edges are sealed, the site is cleared, and we tell you when you can drive on it.

Straight answers to the questions Ruislip customers ask us most. If yours is not here, call us.
Standard tarmac is impermeable, so a new front driveway over 5 square metres needs planning permission unless rainwater drains to a lawn, border or soakaway on your property, or you use porous asphalt. We design drainage to keep you within the rules.
In most cases, yes. Outside conservation areas, a tarmac drive is permitted development if it is permeable or drains to a lawn or border within your boundary. You will also need Hillingdon Council to approve a dropped kerb, which depends on the frontage being deep enough for a car and the crossover not harming a street tree. We measure, advise on the application and build the drive to line up with the new kerb.
If the existing surface is sound and well supported, an overlay is a cost-effective option. If it is sinking, cracked through or badly drained, we recommend a full dig-out and a new sub-base.
A well-built tarmac drive on a proper sub-base should last many years. Keeping edges sealed and repairing cracks early makes a big difference.
You can usually walk on it the same day and drive on it after a day or so. Avoid sharp turns on the spot and parking in the same position for the first few weeks.
Tarmac is usually quicker to lay and better value per square metre, with a smooth, seamless finish. Block paving costs more but offers more patterns and colours. Many customers combine the two with a tarmac drive and block-paved borders.
Yes. We cut out failed areas, prepare the base and reinstate with fresh tarmac, sealing the joints so water cannot get back in.
