Accredited, insured and guaranteed
We lay new tarmac driveways in Ascot, resurface tired drives and carry out tarmac driveway repair work, with the sub-base, falls and edging done properly so the surface lasts.
Long, sweeping drives are part of the character of Ascot, from the private roads off the A329 to the wooded plots of South Ascot and Sunninghill. Our team designs and lays tarmac driveways in Ascot that suit larger homes, with clean block-paved borders, generous turning areas and gates set back from the road. We also carry out tarmac driveway repair and resurfacing for existing asphalt drives that have cracked, rutted or lifted around tree roots near the racecourse and Englemere Wood.
Ascot sits on sandy heathland soils that drain freely but shift under heavy vehicles if the base is thin, so we excavate to a solid formation and build a deep, compacted sub-base. Hot-laid asphalt is finished with granite setts or block borders, and coloured tarmac in red or buff suits period and Arts and Crafts houses. We are FMB, TrustMark and Guild of Master Craftsmen members, fully insured, and we guarantee our work.
Most of our driveway work comes from recommendations. Here is what customers say about us.

A sound but tired drive can be cleaned, regulated and overlaid with fresh tarmac at a lower cost than a rebuild.
Potholes, cracks, sunken areas and failed edges cut out and reinstated so the repair is sealed and level.
Contrasting block or kerb borders that hold the edges and give a tarmac drive a smart, finished look.
Red or green tarmac for drives, paths and private roads where you want something different from black.
Channel drains, soakaways and porous asphalt to keep water off the road and within the planning rules.

Want a smooth, sealed drive?
Call 01344 609856Ascot drives tend to be longer and wider than average, so area is the biggest cost driver, followed by excavation depth on sandy ground and any root protection near mature trees. Removing old gravel or failed tarmac, adding block-paved borders, coloured surfacing, drainage channels and gate approaches all affect the specification. Private road access and long barrow runs can also play a part. Every quote is fixed and written after a free survey. Call us on 01344 609856 to arrange yours.

Small defects in tarmac grow quickly once water gets in. These are the signs it is time to call us.
Hairline cracks let water into the base, where frost widens them every winter.
Loose, missing patches that will keep growing and can damage tyres and trip visitors.
Low areas and ruts point to a weak or washed-out sub-base under the surface.
Puddles that sit for hours mean the falls or drainage need correcting.
Growth along edges and cracks shows the surface is opening up and losing its seal.
Oxidised, crumbly tarmac that sheds grit is near the end of its life and may need resurfacing.

Book a free surveyMany Ascot homes sit on private or unadopted roads, with long drives running between mature Scots pines, oaks and rhododendrons. Roots are the main enemy of tarmac here, lifting edges and cracking the surface, so we plan root protection and flexible edging rather than cutting through major roots. The sandy Bagshot Beds drain well, which helps permeable asphalt, but delivery lorries and horseboxes need a deeper sub-base. Much of the area lies in the Metropolitan Green Belt, and Sunninghill village is a conservation area, so changes to walls, gates and frontages may need consent from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Homes in North Ascot fall under Bracknell Forest Council instead.
We also cover these nearby areas with the same team and the same guarantees.
From survey to the final roll, this is how we build a tarmac drive that lasts.
We check the existing surface, levels, drainage and access, and talk through borders and layout.
An itemised quote with dig-out, sub-base, tarmac courses, edging and a start date.
The old surface comes out, and kerbs or block borders are set to the finished levels.
Crushed stone sub-base is laid and compacted, with channel drains or soakaways where needed.
Hot tarmac is laid in two courses and rolled while hot for a dense, smooth finish.
Edges are sealed, the site is cleared, and we tell you when you can drive on it.

Straight answers to the questions Ascot customers ask us most. If yours is not here, call us.
Standard tarmac is impermeable, so a new front driveway over 5 square metres needs planning permission unless rainwater drains to a lawn, border or soakaway on your property, or you use porous asphalt. We design drainage to keep you within the rules.
Usually, yes, with care. Cutting through major roots can destabilise a tree and, if it is protected by a Tree Preservation Order or sits in a conservation area, may need consent from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. We check for TPOs, keep excavation shallow inside root zones where possible, and can use a cellular confinement base with porous asphalt so roots still get water and air. That keeps the surface flatter for longer.
If the existing surface is sound and well supported, an overlay is a cost-effective option. If it is sinking, cracked through or badly drained, we recommend a full dig-out and a new sub-base.
A well-built tarmac drive on a proper sub-base should last many years. Keeping edges sealed and repairing cracks early makes a big difference.
You can usually walk on it the same day and drive on it after a day or so. Avoid sharp turns on the spot and parking in the same position for the first few weeks.
Tarmac is usually quicker to lay and better value per square metre, with a smooth, seamless finish. Block paving costs more but offers more patterns and colours. Many customers combine the two with a tarmac drive and block-paved borders.
Yes. We cut out failed areas, prepare the base and reinstate with fresh tarmac, sealing the joints so water cannot get back in.
