Looking for reliable fencing in Northwood? We are the fencing contractors Northwood homeowners and businesses call for new garden fencing, replacement panels, gates and fence repairs, all supplied and fitted by our own team.
Northwood's large Edwardian and Arts and Crafts houses, wooded gardens and private roads call for fencing with real care in the detail. We provide Northwood fencing across HA6, from Frithwood and the Copse Wood Estate to Northwood Hills and the roads near Green Lane. Our fencing contractors fit closeboard, panel, post and rail and trellis fencing, gates and metal railings, and carry out fence repairs on boundaries damaged by falling branches or tired posts.
Northwood sits on London clay with gravel cappings on the higher ground, so we tailor footings to each plot and keep timber off the soil with gravel boards. For period homes we often fit featheredge closeboard, timber gates and trellis that suit established planting. We are FMB members, TrustMark registered and Guild of Master Craftsmen accredited, with full public liability insurance and a guarantee on all work. Surveys are free.
Most of our fencing work comes from recommendations. Here is what customers say about us.

We measure and string-line every boundary before digging, so posts are plumb, panels are level and gaps are even.

Secure and affordable for long runs, sports areas and commercial sites.
Simple, open boundary fencing for larger plots and paddocks.
Railings and steel panels for a smart, low-maintenance front boundary.
Wire and timber fencing to keep animals in on rural and edge-of-town plots.
Rot-free panels that never need painting, in timber-look finishes.
We recommend materials on what suits your boundary, budget and the upkeep you are happy with:

A well-built fence needs very little, but a few simple checks each year add years to its life.
Check for loose panels, leaning posts and split rails after high winds, and fix them before the next gale.
Brush off moss and algae so timber can dry out. Avoid pressure washing soft timber at close range.
Replacing one rotten gravel board or post is far cheaper than replacing a run that has been pulled over.
Re-treat timber every two to three years with a water-based preserver to keep out rot and fading.
Keep climbers, hedges and soil away from the panels. Trapped moisture is the main cause of timber rot.
Look for beetle holes and soft, crumbling timber at ground level, and treat or replace affected sections.
NorthwoodFence leaning or panels loose?
Book a repair visitMuch of Northwood was laid out as leafy estates in the early twentieth century, and Hillingdon Council protects that character. The Northwood Frithwood conservation area and the Copse Wood Estate, an Area of Special Local Character, both receive closer scrutiny of front boundaries, and many trees carry Tree Preservation Orders. Gardens near Ruislip Woods and Haste Hill are heavily wooded, so roots and overhanging branches affect where posts can go. Plots are often sloping, needing stepped panels, and long driveways mean long side boundaries. Clay soil on lower ground holds water, while gravel on the hills drains freely. Boundaries beside roads are limited to 1 m under permitted development unless consent is granted.
We also cover these nearby areas with the same team and the same guarantees.
Clear steps, clear prices and a fence that is finished properly. This is what happens after you call.
We visit, walk the boundary, check the ground and access, and talk through styles, heights and gates.
You get an itemised quote with materials, removal of the old fence and a start date. No hidden extras.
We confirm the line with you, string it out and mark post positions before any digging starts.
Posts go in plumb and to the right depth for the soil, then the concrete is left to set.
Gravel boards, panels or closeboard, then gates and trellis, all fitted level and secure.
Old fencing and waste are removed, the garden is swept, and we walk the finished fence with you.

Straight answers to the questions Northwood customers ask us most. If yours is not here, call us.
Northwood fencing costs depend on the total length, height and style, the post type, and how much old fencing or overgrown hedging we clear. Long side boundaries and sloping plots add labour, and hand digging near protected trees takes extra time. Period-style gates and trellis are priced individually. Every quote is fixed and written after a free survey, so the price is agreed before work begins. To book your free survey, call 01923 605325.
It depends on where you are. In the Northwood Frithwood conservation area, and on the Copse Wood Estate, Hillingdon Council expects front boundaries to respect the green, open character of the roads, so a new or taller front fence may need consent. Like-for-like replacement is often fine. If protected trees stand near the line, we plan the work to avoid damaging their roots.
Start with what the fence needs to do: privacy, security, keeping pets in or simply marking a boundary. Closeboard suits privacy and exposed gardens, panels are quick and cost-effective, and picket or post and rail suit front gardens. We bring samples to the free survey and recommend what will last best on your plot.
Usually not. Fences up to 2 metres high are normally permitted development, or up to 1 metre next to a road used by vehicles. Conservation areas, listed buildings and some estates have extra rules, so we check before we start.
Check your title plan and deeds. A T mark on the plan points to the side you are responsible for. If the deeds are silent, ownership is often shared or unclear, so talk to your neighbour before replacing a shared boundary fence.
Not without your permission. If the fence is yours, your neighbour should ask before fixing trellis, plants or anything else to it. A friendly conversation before work starts avoids most boundary disputes.
Yes. We replace broken panels, rails, gravel boards and leaning posts, and we can swap rotten timber posts for concrete ones while keeping the rest of a sound fence.
Call, or send your details and we will arrange a convenient time to measure up and give you a fixed written quote.
